On 15th August, as India marks its 79th Independence Day, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has introduced a big gift for frequent highway travelers – the Annual Pass FASTag.
This new facility aims to end the hassle of paying tolls repeatedly and waiting in long queues. With just a one-time payment, you can enjoy smooth travel for an entire year.

What is the Annual Pass FASTag?

The Annual Pass FASTag is a prepaid toll plan linked to your existing FASTag.
If you own a car, jeep, or van (non-commercial), you can make one payment and travel up to 200 trips in a year on national highways and expressways without paying toll charges every time.

Price and Savings

  • Cost: ₹3,000
  • Validity: 200 trips or 12 months (whichever ends first)
  • Savings: A regular toll crossing costs ₹80–₹100, but with this pass, you’ll pay only around ₹15 per trip.
  • This could save you up to ₹7,000 in a year, according to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Step 1: Download the Rajmargyatra App (Android/iOS) or visit the NHAI website.
Step 2: Log in with your mobile number and enter your vehicle registration number along with your FASTag ID.
Step 3: Make sure your FASTag is properly installed and active.
Step 4: Pay ₹3,000 online.
Step 5: Once the payment is successful, the annual pass will be linked to your FASTag and you’ll receive an SMS confirmation.

Important Points to Remember

  • This pass works only on national highways and expressways, not on state highways.
  • Your FASTag must be active and fixed correctly on your vehicle’s windshield.
  • The pass is non-transferable – if used on another vehicle, it will be deactivated.

Bottom Line:
The Annual Pass FASTag is perfect for regular highway commuters who want to save money and avoid the toll booth rush. With one payment, you can travel worry-free for a whole year.
